WRPS’ Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation Unit Lay Charges

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation Unit has laid charges in relation to a child pornography investigation.

In November 2022, police began an investigation after receiving reports from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre.

On January 12, 2023, police conducted a search warrant at a residence in Kitchener.

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old Kitchener male with two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
