New BC funding program to help expand high speed internet around Province now available for application

A new Provincial funding program that will help out with the expansion of high speed internet throughout BC is now open for applications.

Back on March 8th of this year, the provincial and federal governments announced that they will be investing as much as $830 million combined to support the improvement and expansion of broadband connectivity infrastructure throughout BC.

Said funding will be distributed through the Connecting Communities BC program and supports the Province’s goal to connect all under-served households to high-speed internet by 2027.

Those who can apply for funds must not have access to internet speeds of at least 50 megabits per second download speed and 10-megabit upload speed, which is the ideal standard for internet speed set by the CRTC.
