A beluga is a rare enough site in the waters around Newfoundland…but how about the air?

A huge and unusual Airbus Beluga aircraft is scheduled to touch down at St. John’s International this evening en route from Toulouse, France to Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The cargo aircraft delivering Inmarsat’s newest satellite to the Kennedy Space Center for launch. The satellite is being touted as the most sophisticated commercial communications satellite ever built.

The massive aircraft has made a number of refueling stops between France and Florida, with YYT on the list. The Beluga is scheduled to be on the ground at St. John’s until 9:00 pm Wednesday, with a return flight scheduled for Sunday, January 29th.
